A long, long time ago in a far- away land (we'll call it Doncaster), a lad wa'born, no wise men, no royalty and definitely no virgins were present, but little did they know on that day “Steven king of metal” was born! From that day forth t'was his crusade to bring metal to the masses.

But first an education from vinyl at home was to bring the mighty messiah from Handel, rock'n'roll rebels the Everly Brothers and Del Shannon and the Wheeltappers and Shunters brought the pianist Mrs. Mills along for the ride! Then in stepped big brother (no not the tripe TV show, although Steve is addicted to this), but big brother Lee , Steve was ushered out of the door by his caring nurturing parents as Lee was told “tha can go if tha takes tha brother wi'ya” and Steve's epiphany was NWOBHM! To the uninitiated this is the “New Wave Of British Heavy Metal” , 1980 brought Steve's first gig , Saxon, at the city hall Sheffield , a venue where Steve's neck muscles were tested to their limits watching bands such as Tygers of Pantang (which is just outside Barnsley apparently?),Motor head, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard and Tank etc. etc. The American wave soon followed with Dokken, Queensryche and Motley Crue all shaking their glitter at Steve, but it was one band with their tales of fantasy, swords, sorcery and Norse mythology that took his allegiance forever , he became a soldier of the “army of immortals” following the loudest metal band in the world , Manowar. To this day he is a massive fan, just ask him, he'll only talk about them for about three days! Which, strangely enough, is about as long as a Manowar gig!

Steve foray into the world of radio started when he took took a radio engineer's course and presented a community radio show in Doncaster on SineFM, called MetalDaze, playing tracks from across the whole spectre of rock and metal, Journey to Pantera, and anything in between, as well as being partial to a bit of 'Metal-core' & 'Hard-core'

Steve has been happily married for over twenty years and lives in Doncaster with his wife, two children and two dogs.
