Bloodstock 2019 March

Lucky for some, BLOODSTOCK springs into March with news of seven more bands joining this summer’s best metal weekender and a massive thirteen more coach pick-up locations, making it easier than ever to get you, your mates, and all your camping gear to BLOODSTOCK for a very fine metallic time this August.

Belgian death metal kings ABORTED stride onto the Ronnie James Dio main stage on Sunday.  The band tell us, “BLOODSTOCK!  It’s been a while!  We couldn’t be more thrilled to lay waste to thee in the most offensive of manners this coming summer. Prepare my friends, the blastbeat is coming!”  Their current album ‘TerrorVision’ is blazing holes in our speakers over at BOA HQ. See what we mean via the video for ‘Deep Red’, a track taken from that record here - https://youtu.be/ak4oeZwBfJs.

Cali death metallers, SKELETAL REMAINS join Saturday’s fray on the Sophie Lancaster stage. The band released their third album ‘Devouring Mortality’ last April via Dark Descent/Century Media, and returned to the road for extensive touring, which now includes a run of US dates with Hatebreed and Mexican headline shows this spring. Watch the video for that album’s earthquake-inspired first single ‘Seismic Abyss’, at https://youtu.be/jss2oSGJ604.

Aussie rockers THE LAZYS crash into a Sunday spot on the Sophie stage.  If you love a bit of AC/DC-style classic rock n’ roll, these boys are definitely worth a watch and are sure to bring the party!  The band’s current album, ‘Tropical Hazards’ came out last year, so crack a cold one and check out the video for their infectious tune ‘Nothing But Trouble’ - https://youtu.be/K7ngGOlna0A.

3 HEADED SNAKE join the Sophie stage bill on Saturday.  The LA-based classic metal band was put together by current Ministry guitarist Sin Quirin and features the soaring vocals of Johnny Ray.  See their video for ‘Wisdom Screams’ at https://youtu.be/VsHERp-0LTg and if you like what you hear, go pick up the five piece’s eponymous 3-track debut EP from iTunes or Bandcamp.

BOSS KELOID land a Sunday slot on the Sophie stage.  With current album, ‘Melted On The Inch’ being released last year on Holy Roar Records to vast critical acclaim (Prog Magazine called it “an extraordinary piece of work”), we’re excited to welcome the prog metallers back to Catton Park.  Witness their musical mastery via the video for ‘Chronosiam’ here; https://youtu.be/PbajHpfW3cs.

German crossover thrash squad DUST BOLT snag themselves a Saturday slot on the Sophie stage. Their brand new album, ‘Trapped In Chaos’ was released last month via Napalm Records.  Check out the video for album opener, ‘The Fourth Strike’ - https://youtu.be/aKryFh-upx8 and warm up those necks for their thrashtastic set in August!

RED METHOD romp into a Saturday slot on the Sophie stage.  The band, comprising former members of Meta-Stasis and The Defiled, are set to release their debut album, ‘For The Sick’ sometime this year.  Investigate their sound by watching the video for ‘Split’ over on their YouTube channel - https://youtu.be/kb_hacCAId0.

SLAM DUNK FESTIVAL 2019 UNVEILS STAGE SPLITS

Written by

Slam Dunk 2019 Stage Splits

With a lineup bursting with the very best names in alternative music, Slam Dunk Festival is thrilled to reveal stage splits for the May bank holiday weekender, which is set to touch down in Leeds Temple Newsam Park for the very first time and return to Hatfield Park after the success of last year’s greenfield event. In addition to this, Slam Dunk Festival have also revealed travel information and further afterparty details.

In another Slam Dunk first, it has been announced that some stages will alternate their programming, becoming clash-proof. This year, neither the Jagermeister Stage or Impericon stage will clash, making sure fans of hardcore and metalcore will be able to catch both stage lineups throughout the day. In addition, The Dickies Stage and The Marshall Stage will not clash with each other either.

In what promises to be an unforgettable festival moment, this year’s Slam Dunk headliners All Time Low are set to round off the Monster stage with a homage to their 2nd album ‘Nothing Personal’ after a non-stop day of pop-punk mastery. Florida’s finest New Found Glory will appear alongside Welsh set-up Neck Deep for a back-to-back supply of alternative bangers. Montreal’s iconic rock pack Simple Plan are set to join them, alongside ‘Stupid For You’ hitmakers Waterparks, US-Brit rockers As It Is and crowd-pleasing front-runners Boston Manor and WSTR.

Carefully curated by NOFX’s very own Fat Mike, Slam Dunk’s very first Punk In Drublic stage takeover will see NOFX headline, following defiant performances from more beloved punk names. The iconic Bad Religion, ska-punk six piece Less Than Jake, original punk-rockers Lagwagon and Sweden’s hottest exports Millencolin are set to storm the takeover. Guaranteed to be the ultimate destination for punk rock, it will also see LA ska-punks The Interrupters, Mad Caddies, Anti-Flag and The Bombpops appear on the stage.

One of two heavy stages at this year’s Slam Dunk Festival, metalcore and everything in between can be found on the Jagermeister Stage as UK metal titans Bullet For My Valentine will appear in a powerful headline performance set to incite mosh-madness. Atreyu are set to show both acts and audiences alike how it’s done, bringing their influential metalcore hybrid to the stage, alongside emo icons Silverstein who are set to release their latest studio album ‘Redux: The First Ten Year’ in April. The Word Alive will deliver their notoriously exhilarating performance while Missouri rockers Story Of The Year, Wage War and The Plot In You are destined to get adrenaline levels sky-high.

A Slam Dunk Festival institution, the Impericon Stage will continue its legacy of bringing the world’s best heavy-hitters to Leeds and Hatfield over the May Bank Holiday weekend. The genre-defying New York act Glassjaw will make their Slam Dunk Festival debut in a highly-anticipated headline performance. Bolstering their way onto the notorious stage, UK mob Gallows will bring a cutthroat set alongside American powerhouses The Bronx and Canadian hardcore punk rockers Cancer Bats. Ensuring mayhem from the very beginning, hardcore supergroup Angel Du$t, ‘Time And Space’ noisemakers Turnstile and Pure Noise Records heros Knocked Loose make for an impeccable hardcore billing.

Headlined by The Menzingers, the Dickies Stage will see emotion-driven LA natives Touche Amore, US revival pack Tiny Moving Parts, and American stalwarts The Get Up Kids and Saves The Day take to the stage for a complete education in all things emo. Completing the stage and making for an indisputable display of alternative music will be  esteemed two piece Tigers Jaw and none other than Brit punks Milk Teeth.

Appearing this May for a debut Slam Dunk Festival performance, Plain White T’s are set to headline the Marshall Stage. Before hearing the band’s pop-rock classics, festival goers can recognise the Marshall Stage as a home for heartfelt sing-a-longs delivered by evolving indie-rockers Hellogoodbye, cherished Illinois natives Real Friends, Seaway and Trophy Eyes. The stage will also see A Loss For Words’ UK reunion on the 10 year anniversary of their undeniable album ‘The Kids Can’t Lose’.

Paying homage to the beloved Leeds institution, The Key Club Stage will recreate venue magic on their stage at Leeds and Hatfield with incredible alternative names jam packed on to the lineup. Topping the bill will be enigmatic electro-rock duo iDKHOW in a Slam Dunk Festival debut performance that is sure to make history. Joining them will be alt-pop sensation Lights, billboard-charting grandson and the face-melting Employed To Serve. Birmingham metallers SHVPES will meet Aussie Between You & Me ahead of Story Untold 's pop-punk performance. Press To Meco, Our Hollow Our home, Kublai Khan, Cruel Hand, Pagan and Wallflower will complete the genre-crossing showcase, with secret special guests still to be announced.

One for the acoustic aficionados, the Acoustic Stage will be the go-to destination for slower sing-a-longs with beloved Slam Dunk Festival names. Justin Courtney Pierre of Motion City Soundtrack will lead the lineup which also features singer-songwriter Rob Lynch and former We Are The Ocean singer Liam Cromby as well as Lightyear’s Chas Palmer Williams and Lizzy Farrall.

Following on from its recent win in December 2018 as the Best Medium Sized Festival in the UK at the UK Festival Awards, 2000trees Festival returns. The three day music festival will take place on Thursday 11th July, Friday 12th July and Saturday 13th July at Upcote Farm near Cheltenham, and the first band announcement is here!

We have 33 bands to shout about and to start it all off, headlining the main stage on the Friday 12th July, on their first ever time playing, are the mighty You Me At Six.

Since forming as teenagers in Weybridge, Surrey, You Me At Six have notched up a list of considerable achievements. Four UK Gold Records, five Top Ten albums in the UK including Number One album ‘Cavalier Youth’, sold out UK headline arena tours, and an unparalleled 15 consecutive A-List singles on BBC Radio One. Not to mention also multiple sold-out US headline tours, a Number One rock song in the UK & Australia and Top Five Rock Radio track in North America in ‘Room To Breathe’. Having sold over 65,000 tickets in the UK this year in support of new album 'VI' and the 10th anniversary of debut album 'Take Off Your Colours', You Me At Six are undoubted heavyweights in the live arena. Their recent headline tour was met with phenomenal demand, selling out four months in advance, and in just twenty minutes. As well as gracing the headliner slot at 2000trees Festival, 2019 will see the band take their live show to both Europe and North America.

From You Me At Six -"We're really looking forward to headlining 2000trees Festival this summer. We’ve heard many amazing things about the festival, in particular it’s unrivalled atmosphere and location. The lineup is always superb, so it's going to be a pleasure to be a part of things this year. It's going to be a special show."

Joining You Me At Six will be the incredible Every Time I Die, who are performing at 2000trees Festival for the first time, AND will be performing 'Hot Damn' in full (along with some other bangers) as headliners on The Cave stage on Saturday. "Hot Damn! has always been the one that put us on people’s radars and it was the one that was out the first time we came to the UK, so that’s a nice little throwback." says singer Keith Buckley.   “When festivals are able to do something like this and get such a diverse lineup and secure a venue outdoors, it feels like something big. When you’re going to one of these as a fan of music and your whole surroundings feel so much larger than life it makes you want to enjoy the music. It make you really open to hearing new bands. You’re going to need these festivals, whether it’s to feed a fanbase or to make one. So I think it’s extremely important for the scene.”

Sheffield's While She Sleeps will headline the Cave Stage on the Thursday. The band are on the verge of releasing their fourth album 'SO WHAT?' on March 1st, which is the follow up to 2017's Top Ten UK chart album 'You Are We'. Front man Loz confirming our suspicions about the set - "Last time we played the festival it was chaos. Expect nothing less this time around.”

Returning festival hero Jamie Lenman will be doing something very different at 2000trees Festival this year. He will be curating, opening and closing his very own stage and mini festival, Lenmania 2, on the Axiom Stage on the Thursday - being the first act to be performing at this years event, on the Thursday early afternoon. Jamie will have a host of bands on the stage he (and 2000trees) loves, with more details being announced very soon about the full line up.

A bit from Jamie Lenman - "I’m super excited to be bringing back Lenmania with a new twist and 2000trees is the perfect place to do it - a festival within a festival! The lineup of bands we’ve put together is completely awesome, from old buddies to new discoveries and everything in between, and it’s been great to get Trees’ input so we can assemble the best bill possible. It’s going to be immense!"

From a 2000trees Festival regular, to a HUGELY anticipated first timer, Frank Iero will be headlining the Axiom Stage on the Saturday with his band Frank Iero And The Future Violents in what is sure to be one of THE sets of the weekend. From Frank "I’m so excited to be playing 2000trees festival! i’ve heard so much about it from friends that played in the past but i’ve never had the pleasure personally. I’m looking forward to making some memories of my own next year."

ALL the bands being announced today are:
You Me At Six (Friday headliner) / Every Time I Die (playing "Hot Damn" + hits) / While She Sleeps / Frank Iero And The Future Violents / Therapy? / Comeback Kid / Jamie Lenman (headlining and curating Lenmania II) / Hands Like Houses / Single Mothers / Cavetown / Estrons / Martha / Milk Teeth / Puppy / Muncie Girls / GroundCulture / Higher Power / Loathe / Gouge Away / Nervus / Heavy Lungs / MØL / Indigo Lo / LICE / The Drew Thompson Foundation / Spielbergs / Sunshine Frisbee Laserbeam / Imperial Leisure / Orchards / Frauds / Phoxjaw / Indoor Pets / False Advertising

From 2000trees Festival organiser and main man James Scarlett - "With 33 bands announced today there is a lot I’m excited about and I’d definitely like to point people in the direction of my new favourite band Gouge Away – they are absolutely incredible. Also a shout out is definitely needed for Every Time I Die who are playing their Hot Damn! album in full for the first (and probably only) time. As well as playing the album, they’re also going to smash us with some of their hits, so this will be a very special set for sure. And last but not least, Jamie Lenman has agreed to bring Lenmania to 2000trees and will be taking over the Axiom Stage all day on the Thursday with a selection of his favourite acts. In fact, he’ll be the very first act of the entire festival playing a special acoustic set and will also headline the stage with his full rock show. I can’t wait!”

FRONTIERS FEST POSTER 2019

Live At Leeds 2019LOGO

Renowned as the first place to hear the essential sounds of the year ahead, Live At Leeds returns in 2019 with its biggest lineup to date - bringing together the artists that’ll be on everyone’s lips for the next 12 months, and the chance to find your new favourite band first for a day of live music like no other. The home of new music, it all begins at Live At Leeds.

Heading up the lineup this year are some of Live At Leeds’ true success stories, led by returning guitar heroes Sundara Karma. Since forming in Reading, their blend of infectious hooks and direct lyrics have taken on the globe - with a debut album that took them to headline nights at London’s Brixton Academy and beyond. After returning last month with the mesmerising ‘Illusions’ and a hotly anticipated second album on the cards for next year, their set at Live At Leeds is bound to be an unmissable spectacle of what a band can be in 2019.

One of the most acclaimed and creative bands of the past decade, Metronomy will return in 2019 to open up a bold new chapter. Formed in the creative mind of frontman/band leader Joe Mount, their tear-stained lines of indie heartbreak have become a signature sound - with five studio albums morphing and growing into swaggering neon-pop with a catalogue of anthems to boot. An unmissable live act, Live At Leeds 2019 will be in for a treat when Metronomy come to town.

Tom Grennan is arguably the breakout artist of 2018, with an incredible year that has sent him to some of the biggest stages in the UK. After scooping a Top 5 Album with debut LP ‘Lighting Matches’, Tom has packed rooms across the country - with his gravel-smooth voice and unstoppable stage presence making him one of the most beloved songwriters that the UK has seen in quite some time. Bound to bring passion and charm to Live At Leeds 2019, he’s one only set to get bigger and bigger from here on out.

Across venues and locations around the city, Live At Leeds is full of unmissable moments - with a host of the finest in fresh and exciting music lining up for 2019. No comebacks in the indie world may be as anticipated for 2019 than Swim Deep, who across two studio albums have set themselves from the pack with their dreamy and boundary-pushing sound. After time away, you can guarantee their set at Live At Leeds 2019 will be one packed to the rafters as Birmingham’s finest return to the fray in style. An act stamping their own mark on the world around them, Dream Wife stand as a vital act of current times. Combining punk spirit, a take no prisoners live show and a revered debut album to boot and you can guarantee they’ll go down a storm come May 4th. Another band with a debut album recently out in the world, the glam-screen swagger of Black Honey returns to Live At Leeds next year, with tracks like ‘Midnight’, ‘Hello Today’ and ‘Dig’ making them a live force to be reckoned with. Equally as captivating, and standing as one of the most talked about new bands of the past few months, the carefree pomp of Sports Team will roll into Leeds City Centre in May, bringing with them the sort of ambition and star-power that’ll have them leading the way for a whole new gang of bands to follow. After their landmark Scala headline show and with the charismatic points of frontman Alex Rice in tow, they’re ones not to be missed.

On their return to Live At Leeds, Swim Deep commented:
“Buzzin for Leeds. New songs. Buzzin"

Always changing and with something different around every corner, Live At Leeds packs in a vast array of bands and acts reshaping genre and styles. Scrappy South-Londoners Goat Girl have made a name for themselves with their fresh and unique take on what a guitar band can be, and their forward-thinking but raw set is bound to provide a moment unlike anyone else. Dreamy four-piece Gengahr bring themselves to Live At Leeds as they continue to innovate and evolve, with second album ‘Where Wildness Grows’ released last year to acclaim across the board. After a star turn on Later… With Jools Holland, Leicester’s Easy Life will be rolling with the smooth jazz-indie vibes to Live At Leeds this year, with tracks like ‘Pockets’ and ‘Frank’ pointing to one of the most exciting new bands on the circuit right now. Shining a light on the best the city itself has to offer, Leeds’ very own Marsicans will be on hand to celebrate at Live At Leeds 2019 as they sit on the cusp of a huge year with their sharp and sweet pop hooks. Equally, the hypnotic flows of Gently Tender (featuring members of Palma Violets and The Big Moon) will leave Live At Leeds 2019 with an army of new fans thanks to their incredible sound. It’s a shining example of why Live At Leeds is the only place to be when it comes to refreshing new music discovery.

Hometown heroes Marsicans look ahead to Live At Leeds 2019, saying:
“We’re very excited to be playing at Live at Leeds next year. It’s given us some of our best hometown shows over the years and we can’t wait to take it up a level with this year’s performance. It’s always an exciting date in our calendar”.

The ultimate all-dayer, Live At Leeds remains unmatched as the leading light of live music and inner-city fun. Bursting at the seams with new bands all on the verge of something special, there’s something for everyone. From the soaring screens of Brighton’s Thyla, to the flickering panoramic plays of Another Sky (fresh from their recent TV debut on Later… With Jools Holland), the direct and heart-grabbing pop of Lauren Aquilina and the sharp Elli Ingram, the dazzling indie pop of Swimming Girls and the thriving rock and roll power of Scottish wizzes The Dunts - the very best are heading to Live At Leeds to prove their standings. The Dunts said:
“We’re very excited to play Live At Leeds festival next year, it’ll be our third time in Leeds after smashing Leeds Festival and LAL's Ones To Watch, and we are prepared to die on that stage! We realise no one wants that but we are prepared!”

Saltwater Sun said:
“Hi! We’re Saltwater Sun and we are all fired up for our initiation into the Live at Leeds Club 2019! Heard nothing but good things about this festival and having only ventured to Leeds once so far, we’re understandably super excited to play for some people who haven’t seen us. As for our set, expect loud, high energy bops from start to finish. Bring your dancing shoes; we’ll do the rest.”

The starting gates to the summer ahead, Live At Leeds 2019 soundtracks a city soaring with the best in new and now.

Looking ahead to Live At Leeds 2019, Festival Director Andy Smith said:
“It’s really good to see breakthrough artists coming back for 2019, both Sundara Karma and Tom Grennan cut their teeth at the event making their first appearances in 2016 and ‘17 respectively. They’ve both had a great few years, selling out Leeds Academy and enjoying critical acclaim since their last LAL appearances; it’s amazing to welcome them back topping the bill. We see Metronomy return to Leeds for the first time since 2014, which will be a personal highlight, and local talent is represented well with Leeds men of the moment Marsicans leading the regional names. There are emerging artists on this announcement with huge buzz around them at the moment like Easy Life, Heavy Lungs and Sports Team, and this is just the first wave of names, there is plenty more to be announced!

Bloodstock May 2017

As Spring creeps into Summer, BLOODSTOCK HQ is a hive of activity.  The ‘Metal 2 The Masses’ finals are well under way and plans are on track for 2017 being the biggest and best BLOODSTOCK yet!  Here’s ten more bands for starters...

DEVILMENT declare, “Obviously the band are really looking forward to playing the festival, and as a English band it will definitely be an honour to play the main stage on what is tantamount to the best British festival out there. Hopefully festival goers will come and check DEVILMENT out, we intend on putting on quite a raucous heavy metal spectacle!”  If you’re not a loyal disciple already, get to grips with their most recent album, ‘Devilment II: The Mephisto Waltzes’, via their Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/devilmentcorps/ and watch the video for ‘Hitchcock Blonde’ - https://youtu.be/tQbZ-tQycEY.

We had a great time playing in the UK this Spring, and it's really neat to be returning there so soon. Looking forward to seeing all our friends again soon!”  Check out the video for ‘Bringer Of Pain’, the title track from their most recent album, at: https://youtu.be/pBpv_pcUEIQ.

Following the monumental news last week that Madina Lake are reforming to play Slam Dunk Festival 2017 to mark their 10th anniversary, we are pumped to reveal a whole host of new acts joining the bill.
Added to the already stellar line up are alt-rock stars Deaf Havana, punk powerhouse Frank Iero and the Patience and rock favourites We Are The Ocean, in addition to The Maine, Crime in Stereo, Sorority Noise, Too Close To Touch, WSTR, Seaway, Boston Manor and Stray From The Path.
The last few years have been busy for Deaf Havana, having supported Bruce Springsteen and broken into the UK Top 10. But 2017 is set to be even bigger, as in January they released their fourth studio album ‘All These Countless Nights’, announced their much anticipated international tour, and are now revealed to play Slam Dunk Festival 2017!
Formed by the former guitarist for My Chemical Romance, Frank Iero and the Patience is a punk rock band taking the world by storm, having toured with the likes of the Used, Taking Back Sunday and Mallory Knox. With a handful of UK dates this month, they return this summer for their Slam Dunk Festival debut.
We Are The Ocean’s performance at Slam Dunk Festival 2017 will be bittersweet, given the emotional news that they will be calling it quits this year. But we are over the moon that their last ever shows will be with us, as they are a firm Slam Dunk favourite, and have played the festival more times than any other band. Hold tight, it’s going to be an emotional rollercoaster but a fitting last hurrah.
Arizona’s heartthrobs The Maine also join the line-up, and will no doubt bring with them new material from their upcoming album Lovely, Little, Lonely set to drop in April this year.
The Maine’s John O’Callaghan says:
"The British aren't necessarily known for their basketball prowess, but they are known for their domination over rock n roll. Which is why we can't wait to score a homerun and shoot a touchdown at Slam Dunk with this gnarly lineup.”
Also announced today are Crime in Stereo, Long Island’s answer to hardcore punk, Connecticut's Sorority Noise who will bring their anthemic brand of emo to the festival, and Too Close To Touch - whose solid blend of pop and post-hardcore will get crowds going.
UK pop-punk new bloods WSTR will join Canadian heavyweights Seaway and homegrown front-runners Boston Manor in one of the most highly-anticipated appearances this summer. Bringing the heavy, Long Island metalcore titans Stray From The Path will also be appearing across the weekend.
On their return to the festival, Henry Cox of Boston Manor says:
"We're really looking forward to playing this year’s Slam Dunk. The festival last year was a real highlight for us. This year is going to be more sweaty and more intense.”
A nationwide invitation to party in the name of the alternative, Slam Dunk Festival is rite of passage for lovers of pop-punk and rock music and is a key date in the festival calendar. Kicking off in Birmingham on May 27th, the festival will travel to Leeds on May 28th before finishing up in Hatfield on May 29th, once again ensuring the Slam Dunk Bank Holiday Weekend is the only place to be to catch all your favourite bands.
Slam Dunk is set to get even bigger and better in 2017 with the addition of the First Direct Arena in Leeds as the second stage, a second outdoor stage in Hatfield and an expanded site in Birmingham, ensuring more die-hard fans can savour the Slam Dunk experience than ever before. With tickets on sale now, and still more acts to be announced, Slam Dunk Festival is set to define 2017 with the ultimate alternative party of the summer.
