The Main Stage just got even better with a host of new names which are sure to stir the crowd into a frenzy. US heavyweights ALTER BRIDGE will return to Download with their breed of blistering and technical rock completed with incredible showmanship courtesy of Miles Kennedy.
Mark Tremonti from Alter Bridge said:
“We are very proud and honoured to be a part of the 2020 lineup. Download has always been the highlight of our touring schedule over the years, thanks for another opportunity to perform for some of the best rock fans in the world!”
The brilliantly chaotic FRANK CARTER & THE RATTLESNAKES will wreak havoc at Download, with pit-starter anthems such as ‘Juggernaut’, ‘Crowbar’ and ‘I Hate You’. MOTIONLESS IN WHITE are staggeringly heavy, with a good dosage of theatrics that will no doubt fuel a memorable performance. Also performing rare Australia’s ferocious THY ART IS MURDER, rising Florida metalcorers WAGE WAR, and melodic Brit metallers THE RAVEN AGE.
Chris Motionless from Motionless In White said:
“Playing Download is an accomplishment that bands of every level still write home about. It is THE festival to be a part of, and I’m so proud to announce that we will be making an appearance again for the first one of the new decade. See you in a few months!”
Looking towards The Zippo Stage, Atlanta’s finest MASTODON have garnered a reputation as a formidable live force, and their performance at 2020 is sure to be enormous. Fronted by the infamous Brody Dalle, THE DISTILLERS are a household name in modern punk and make their anticipated return to Donington. THE DARKNESS are also set to bring a healthy dose of classic rock and roll bombast., Italian goth icons LACUNA COIL, melodic rockers AMARANTHE, bondage-punks HATARI and rock n roll revivalists THE GLORIOUS SONS. They’ll be joined by Mississippi rock stalwarts 3 DOORS DOWN.
Justin Hawkins of The Darkness said:
“UK festival appearances are like children - so precious and impossible to pick a favourite. This year though, my number 1 child is our Download slot! I have a pair of pyjama bottoms designed to look like jeans with tickets for Monsters of Rock 1991 hanging out of the pocket, and that tells you everything you need to know about my excitement levels.”
Following their disbanding in 2016, Download are beyond excited to reveal that Welsh post-hardcore and crowd favourite FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND will make their euphoric return to the festival by headlining The Avalanche Stage. Joining them are Texan troopers BOWLING FOR SOUP who are sure-fire to get Donington singing along to their tongue-in-cheek pop punk anthems.
Ryan Richards from Funeral For A Friend said “As a band, and as individuals – we’ve made some incredible memories at the hallowed grounds of Donington through the years, so it’s going to be nice to come back and make a few more together. Those trademark black fringes are a bit greyer/balder these days, but we’ll still be able to show these young ‘uns a thing or two!”
Jaret Reddick from Bowling For Soup said:
“Download Festival is always something special for Bowling For Soup. So many of the stories we share with other bands and family members back home come from our time spent playing or hanging out at this festival. Very much looking forward to making more memories this summer...and of course bringing something special to our show, that only BFS can get away with!”
Elsewhere on the Avalanche Stage are Philadelphia’s THE MENZINGERS who will draw a monstrous crowd with their honest melodic punk, Woking’s brutal EMPLOYED TO SERVE, anonymous collective SLEEP TOKEN, garage punk outfit PRESS CLUB, Welsh post-hardcore band HOLDING ABSENCE, Liverpool prog-metallers LOATHE, mysterious emo rapper SULLII, London ska-punks THE SKINTS, alt-pop-rock Mancs THE HARA, Northern Californian pop-rockers CEMETERY SUN, and Brighton indie punks GENDER ROLES. They’ll be joined by punk trio MILK TEETH.
Headlining The Dog Tooth Stage are genre defining heavy music titans SEPULTURA who are set to be a crowd pleaser with huge songs such as Roots Bloody Root and Refuse / Resist.
Derrick Green from Sepultura said;
“We are ecstatic about our return to Download Festival. It’s an honour and pleasure to be a part of a festival with such a rich music history. We look forward to rocking out with you all!!”
Also on The Dog Tooth stage are Sydney metalcore innovators NORTHLANE, alongside bruising Leeds hardcore collective HIGHER POWER. If that wasn’t enough, further Dogtooth Stage additions are London progressive rock band HAKEN, virtuosic Texan quartet POLYPHIA, Sacramento noise metallers WILL HAVEN, the hotly tipped KILL THE LIGHTS (featuring members from Bullet For My Valentine, Still Remains, Throw The Fight, Glamour Of The Kill and Threat Signal), self-proclaimed ‘Satanic doo wop’ trio TWIN TEMPLE, Texan hardcore outfit FIRE FROM THE GODS, Bristol post-punks HEAVY LUNGS, NYC rockers TEMPT, Peterborough melodic hardcore act MODERN ERROR, brutal Holy Roar signees London five-piece RENOUNCED, mesmerising alt rock artist JJ WILDE, and Brummie metalcore pack SHVPES.

The first round of Superstars to be announced are title-holders WWE NXT UK Champion WALTER, NXT UK Women’s Champion Kay Lee Ray, and NXT UK Tag Team Champions Gallus. In addition, Kerrang! Radio will once more host Finding Fresh Blood, the search to bring the hottest emerging talent to Donington. 2019 was its inaugural year and grime-punks PENGSHUi triumphantly opened the Avalanche Stage. UK acts can now upload their tracks online to be in with the chance of playing this year’s festival on the same stage. To apply, and for more information please visit their website. The chance to apply closes on 1st March at 23:59, and winners will be announced in April.
Kerrang! Radio’s Alex Baker said:
“Playing at The Download Festival is a benchmark moment in any bands career, it is the most important festival in the country for alternative music and a performance on any of the hallowed stages can catapult your career as a musician to new heights. I only like working with people who share my unyielding spirit for supporting new artists, and the absolute dedication that Andy and the team from Download have in this field is truly inspiring. When Pengshui walked out on the Avalanche Stage last year, the atmosphere on the stage, in the crowd AND in the wings was absolutely electric – it is a moment that will never be forgotten.”

BLOODSTOCK CONFIRM SEVEN MORE BANDS; ANNOUNCE ON SITE GAMING ARENA & CELEBRATE 100K YOUTUBE SUBSCRIBERS
Written by Steven Harrison
As the number of months left to BLOODSTOCK 2020 reaches the half-way point, festival HQ shows no signs of slowing down with booking bands and making plans to make BLOODSTOCK’s 20th anniversary year the biggest and boldest yet! With a YouTube 100k subscriber milestone achieved this month too, there’s a brand new competition you can win weekend tickets in, as well as news about the exciting gaming arena debuting at BLOODSTOCK this year, and go on then, seven more bands to announce as well…
Brit thrash luminaries, ACID REIGN are set for a Friday slot on the Ronnie James Dio main stage! Having rebooted the band in 2015 after a 24 year hiatus, frontman H tells us, "Anyone who witnessed our 2016 show on the Sophie stage knows exactly how much we love playing BLOODSTOCK. There is a lot of excitement in the AR camp right now, we finally got a new album out after all these years (29 to be exact) and now we get to put a BLOODSTOCK sized cherry on the top of that cake. Can't wait to see you all there!" The band released that long-awaited album, ‘The Age Of Entitlement’ in August last year. Check out the video for ‘The New Low’ from that release here.
Also appearing on Friday’s main stage, are Bristol’s hardcore punk crew SVALBARD. Signed to Holy Roar Records, their topical and furious last album ‘It’s Hard To Have Hope’ surfaced in 2018, and was described by Kerrang! as “a grand declaration of war, on everything wrong with the modern world, set to a truly brilliant, visceral soundtrack.” See if you agree; watch the video for ‘For The Sake Of The Breed’ from that album here.
Goth-soaked metal newcomers, IDLE HANDSwill open the main stage on Sunday! The Portland-based band are hot off their recent US support slot to the mighty King Diamond and the release of debut album, ‘Mana’ via Eisenwald Records. View the retrotastic video for ‘Give Me To The Night’, taken from that release here.
Swedish progressive rock collective, SOENcrash straight into Friday’s special guest slot on the Sophie Lancaster stage.Reformed by frontman Joel Ekelöf and former Opeth drummer, Martin Lopez back in 2010, SOEN are four albums deep into their career, having released current album, ‘Lotus’ in early 2019. Investigate the sublime title track from that opus and its accompanying video here.
VISCERA earn themselves a Sophie stage slot on Saturday. The band, featuring former members of Heart of a Coward, Abhorrent Decimation, Martyr Defiled, Nervecell, and Surfaces, blend their influences (Pantera, Meshuggah, At The Gates, The Black Dahlia Murder and Killswitch Engage) with modern tech/death and deathcore flavours. They release their debut album, ‘Obsidian’ this Spring via Unique Leader Records, but in the meantime, take a look at the video to ‘Lamb To The Slaughter’ taken from that release here.
Edinburgh’s riff squad and former BLOODSTOCK ‘Metal 2 The Masses’ alumni, DOG TIRED also land a slot on Friday’s Sophie stage. Since landing a slot in the New Blood tent in 2014, the band have been honing their stagecraft, playing with the likes of Skindred and Raging Speedhorn. We’re happy to welcome them back with step up to the Sophie Stage in 2020. Get a taste for their sound with the video of ‘Dagoth’s Nine’ here.
BAILER join Saturday’s Sophie stage line up. Metal Hammer inform that “Sometimes you hear a new band that make you want to drive a motorbike through a wall. BAILER are that band.” Discover something new and make up your own mind by checking out ‘Long Gone’, featuring guest vocals from Adam Carroll here, and catch ‘em at Catton Park in August.

Toronto punks PUP have cemented themselves as one of the most energetic and exciting live bands in recent years, and with their noisy, biting and a recklessly fun ode to nihilism, they’re not to be missed. The self-dubbed ‘family band’ TINY MOVING PARTS formed in high school and have worked tirelessly to create the band’s trademark blend of math rock, punk pop, and emo - they have been added to the already monster line up,
Most known for ‘Youth of the Nation’, ‘Southtown’, ‘Boom’, and the triple platinum record Satellite, San Diego’s P.O.D. join the line up with their infectious hybrid of punk, heavy metal, reggae, rap and Latin music.
Making their debut last year with bold album Ain’t Always Easy on Spinefarm Records, STONE BROKEN’s energetic live shows have fuelled their desire to take on the world and are ready to take on Download.
Returning to Download are the retro-inspired blues of quartet BLUES PILLS and their vintage style. Fronted by hard rock veteran Toby Jepson (G.U.N., Little Angels), WAYWARD SONS dropped their second album The Truth Ain’t What It Used To Be last month and are a much welcome addition to the line up.
Self-proclaimed Kings of Stonerpunk, BOKASSA make their Download Festival debut from Norway following a summer opening for Metallica on their European Wordwired tour. Written by Steven HarrisonBLOODSTOCK REVEAL FOUR MORE FOR RONNIE JAMES DIO STAGE
As Halloween approaches and Autumn rolls in, BLOODSTOCK is delighted to reveal four more amazing bands joining the heavy metal shenanigans in Catton Park next August as well as details of this year’s Rock Society memberships.
PHILIP H. ANSELMO & THE ILLEGALS will be bringing their much lauded ‘A Vulgar Display of Pantera’ set to the Ronnie James Dio main stage on Friday. Bound to be one of the ‘Do Not Miss’ sets of the weekend, performing a slew of Pantera classics, we suggest you grab your mates and get down the front early. For a taste of what’s to come, check out this clip of a similar set earlier this year, in Brooklyn, NY’s famous St Vitus bar - https://youtu.be/Mx2VIEGeWRQ.
On Saturday, PARADISE LOST fans are in for a treat, as the gothic-doom overlords will be performing their much loved fifth album ‘Draconian Times’ in full! Released in 1995, it spawned singles ‘The Last Time’ (https://youtu.be/uuh-Ui_ZKTk) and ‘Forever Failure’ (https://youtu.be/gVgIW_pBcdI). Now signed to Nuclear Blast, the band unveiled their fifteenth studio album, ‘Medusa’ in 2017 and hit the studio at the end of October to record the follow up.
BLOODSTOCK is pleased to share that LIFE OF AGONY will be joining us on the Ronnie James Dio main stage on Sunday. New album ‘The Sound Of Scars’, released by Napalm Records just 11 days ago, serves as a sequel to their seminal 1993 debut ‘River Runs Red’. Watch the video for new song ‘Scars’ at https://youtu.be/Z0hyh0yTdaU.
When legends like Metallica and Megadeth cite them as an influence, you know they’ve earned their spot. DIAMOND HEAD pick up a slot on Sunday’s main stage bill and will show exactly why they’re considered one of the leaders of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement. Formed back in 1976, but still creating new music, their latest album ‘The Coffin Train’ dropped in May. Get into the title track at: https://youtu.be/YFsC6M7x32g.
Finally, BLOODSTOCK’s Rock Society memberships go on general sale at 9am on Thursday 31st October. The Rock Society is effectively BLOODSTOCK’s ‘Members Club’, offering not only a 10% discount on your weekend ticket (on top of the early bird discount when you purchase the 'Rock Society membership + ticket bundle' option), but all sorts of other cool benefits like priority signing tent access, access to the VIP Serpents Lair bar, special tours of the backstage & production areas seeing ‘behind the scenes’, a Rock Society laminate, a dedicated hangout area in the Rock Society tent on site and plenty more besides. Call of the Wild Festival Announces a Storming Sunday Headliner and Yet More Acts
Written by Steven HarrisonThe organisers firmly believe that the festival’s growth and longevity depends on listening to the fans & their plea was for "more metal and heavy bands", so heeding that cry Call of the Wild Festival is proud to confirm Lawnmower Deth, Raging Speedhorn, Wolves Among Us & local band DLVRR, who are curated by BBC Introducing in Lincolnshire.
A huge chunk of New York City sleaze rock has been added to the bill with the punk overtones of Warrior Soul, Wildstreet, Motochrist, The Sweet Things & newly reformed iconic band The Throbs announcing their first UK show in decades.
As if that wasn't enough sleaze rock, the organisers have snapped up Trench Dogs, who have been described as the hybrid child of Hanoi Rocks & Dogs D'Amour.
020 sees that same homage and motif well and truly emblazoned across the stage with Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons now confirmed to headline Sunday night
Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons features Motörhead guitarist Phil Campbell alongside his sons Todd, Dane and Tyla, plus vocalist Neil Starr.
The Motörhead motif continues as The Kilmister Stage will proudly be sponsored by Road Crew. Road Crew is a beer that resulted from special collaboration between Cameron’s Brewery and Motörhead. Road Crew takes its name from the Motörhead fan favourite ‘(We Are) The Road Crew’ on the classic ‘Ace of Spades’ album. The song was penned as a tribute to the band’s dedicated team of roadies. Band members Mikkey Dee & Phil Campbell played key parts in the development of the beer.
The classic rock vibe has been fleshed out with popular additions in the form of New Device, Wicked Stone, JOANovARC, Thirteen Stars, These Wicked Rivers, Crooked Shapes & Elevation Falls.
COTW are also proud to confirm Glen Matlock & the Tough Cookies. Glen is best known for being the bass guitarist in the original line-up of the Sex Pistols. He is credited as a co-author on 10 of the 12 songs on Never Mind the Bollocks and Here’s the Sex Pistols, although he had left the band while the album was being recorded. He later joined the Sex Pistols reformation to tour 2002 - 03 & 2007 - 08. In the band we have Earl Slick lead guitar hero who played with David Bowie and John Lennon. Jim Lowe Grammy winning producer with the Stereophonics And Chris Musto who played with Dirt, Kim Wilde and the legend Johnny Thunders.
Other acts confirmed include Dig Lazarus; also Guts & Faith in Casinos - both curated by BBC Introducing in Lincolnshire.
With the festival already outselling last year's numbers, it’s expected to bring in large numbers from across the UK and Europe. Tickets already sold to both USA & Canada confirm that the word has spread internationally.
Call of the Wild’s second cycle takes place between 29th-31st May 2020 at the Lincolnshire Showground, Grange-de-Lings, Lincoln LN2 2NA.
BLOODSTOCK FESTIVAL 2020 REVEALS FIRST HEADLINER AND MORE…
Written by Steven HarrisonBLOODSTOCK REVEALS FIRST HEADLINER AND MORE…
BLOODSTOCK Towers is a hive of activity as a slew of bands confirm slots for the 2020 event. 2020 also sees the festival celebrating 20 years of BLOODSTOCK, so expect some special treats to celebrate at Catton Park next August.
Without further ado, coming to us with an exclusive UK show for 2020, DEVIN TOWNSEND is set to headline Friday on BLOODSTOCK’s Ronnie James Dio main stage! The show will be a very special set for fans, with more detail on the nature of the set to be revealed in due course! Here’s Devin to tell you the news: https://youtu.be/noN0RK4LedA. He also tells us: “OK, folks...wow. So where should I begin? Ever since I was a kid, being able to headline a festival as fantastic and forward thinking as Bloodstock has been a dream of mine. As some of you may know, I’ve been working on several live 'bands' lately, from acoustic, to prog and orchestral, with some really artistic and improvisational aspects. However for Bloodstock, my intention is to do something quite different, and consequently kick ass in every possible way. I am putting together a VERY SPECIAL one-off show for Bloodstock, with a heavy band, playing the very best material for an outdoor festival from my entire catalogue, from SYL up to Empath. I have always felt that if I was given one shot to knock it out of the park, I wouldn't hesitate. And my friends, this is the shot! I have listened to what people have been asking for from my catalogue, and with a show like this, a production like we are planning, and the players who have agreed to be involved, this will surely be one of the pinnacle moments in my career. My intention over the past few years has been to find ways to use different aspects of my work (that fall on opposite ends of the creative spectrum), to ultimately make something really beautiful. Something unified. This show is meant to bring it all together after 25 years of doing this. Thanks Bloodstock for choosing to rock with me. I can't wait to see you all there!”
JINJER are also set to make their BLOODSTOCK debut with a slot on Saturday’s main stage. The Ukrainian metal squad, fronted by Tatiana Shmailyuk, have been making waves in recent years with their heavy progressive sound. Check out them razing Wacken to the ground earlier this year with ‘Perennial’, a track taken from their recent ‘Micro’ EP; https://youtu.be/bxi3i9wzQBk. The band are currently readying their brand new studio album, ‘Macro’ for release late October.
Power metallers GLORYHAMMER land a Sunday spot on the Ronnie James Dio main stage. The band’s current album, ‘Legends From Beyond The Galactic Terrorvortex‘ is out now via Napalm Records. Remind yourself of their maximum power metal points by watching the video for ‘Gloryhammer’; https://youtu.be/tKlVYJTSzuU.

Set to return after the festival’s biggest year yet, Slam Dunk Festival have announced the first wave of bands for 2020, welcoming UK rock titans Don Broco as the first headliner revealed for next year’s highly anticipated alternative instalment.
With an incomparable charismatic mix of 80s pop inflections and the hardest-hitting riffs on daytime radio, Don Broco’s powerful party-starting tunes have taken the Bedfordian four-piece to astronomical heights. No strangers to Slam Dunk Festival, Don Broco have delivered colossal anthems from their compelling catalogue: ‘Priorities’, ‘Automatic’ and ‘Technology’ in constant career-defining appearances. Enjoying sold-out shows on their UK arena run following the release of their first 2019 track ‘Half Man Half God’, Don Broco continued to unleash their high-octane performances on their most recent run of shows in Asia before surprising fans with dynamic single ‘Action’. Currently powering across the US on their first-ever North American headline tour, Don Broco’s upcoming headline performance at Slam Dunk, set to be their exclusive festival appearance of 2020, will be one of the most anticipated live dates in the next year.
On their headline performance, Don Broco say;
“We bloody love Slam Dunk so it’s a massive honour to be asked to headline next year! Right from our early EP days we’ve always had the best time at Slammy D. It was our first proper festival booking way back when and since we’ve played slots throughout the years on pretty much all the stages, most recently a very surreal performance for us the year before last playing to sea of Rob face masks on the main stage. With this being our first ever festival headline we will certainly be making it a show to remember.”
Slam Dunk Festival Director, Ben Ray says;
“2019 was a big year for us, with the festival moving to fully outdoor sites. It was a massive success so I’m pleased that we are returning to them. Don Broco headlining is pretty special for me as they are the definition of a homegrown band! They first played in 2011 on the new bands stage and have risen through the ranks to the top of the bill!”
In a mega pop-punk billing, Slam Dunk 2020 is set to welcome Pure Noise powerhouses State Champs, Dan ‘Soupy’ Campbell & co in The Wonder Years, singalong saviours Mayday Parade, beatdown kings Four Year Strong, Illinois front-runners Knuckle Puck and Long Island punks Bayside. Godfathers of punk-pop Motion City Soundtrack promise an unmissable return to their legendary form when they reunite on UK soil, exclusively to Slam Dunk.
Mayday Parade’s Alex Garcia says:
“We’re extremely excited to be coming to England for Slam Dunk Festival. It’s been too long since we’ve played it and it’s definitely one of the most fun festivals to be a part of from the crowd’s energy to the after parties. Not to mention we love touring the UK! ”
Four Year Strong’s Joe Weiss says:
"The UK has always been one of our favourite places to play and we can’t wait to come back to Slam Dunk Festival"
Anthony Raneri of Bayside says:
“Can’t wait to get to Slam Dunk again this year. We were able to do it once before and I love that it’s carved out it’s own place as a punk rock institution in a country that’s pretty crowded with festivals”
Teasing the Slam Dunk’s heavier side and poised to deliver the performance of the summer at Leeds and Hatfield are Fearless favourites Ice Nine Kills, metalcore master crafters Issues and Australian alt-rockers House Like Houses.
Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills says:
“After this current sold-out headlining tour of the UK, I can’t think of a better way to return next year than on Slam Dunk....”
Issues says:
"It's so exciting to be back at Slam Dunk! We're going all in!"
A rite of passage for lovers of the alternative, Slam Dunk returns once again as a key date in the festival calendar. Slam Dunk Festival North will take place on Saturday 23rd May 2020 at Temple Newsam and Slam Dunk South will take place on Sunday 24th May at Hatfield Park. Tickets go on sale Friday 27th September at 10am.
In a monumental move, last year saw Slam Dunk operate as a fully green field festival, shifting away from its urban beginnings as Slam Dunk North made its debut at Leeds Temple Newsam site, joining Slam Dunk South in a park location as it enjoyed its second year at Hatfield Park. Celebrating ten years since the first Slam Dunk South date, 2020’s May Bank Holiday weekend is the only place to catch the world’s very best alternative music.

Tickets will be on sale at 2pm on Wednesday 25th September via downloadfestival.co.uk/tickets.
IRON MAIDEN will return to Donington next year to headline Download Festival on Saturday night, in what will be one of only two homecoming UK festival shows in 2020. The London band have had countless No.1 records, including their most recent studio double album, 2015's The Book Of Souls, in over 40 countries, as well as being hailed as one of the greatest live acts of all time. They've spent the summer on their historic and critically acclaimed Legacy Of The Beast North American tour, based on their award winning mobile game of the same name, which has been deemed by fans and national and rock media alike as 'Maiden's most monumental show and best setlist ever' so get ready Downloaders, this is one performance you won't want to miss.
Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson says, "Next year we will play a number of countries and cities we have yet to visit on this incredible tour, so it is terrific to be able to accept the invitation to return to Download in 2020 and we will certainly go to town and add a few extra items to the show. This will be our seventh time headlining at Donington Park. It's home turf and we all really enjoy playing this Festival, the vibe from the crowd is always fantastic."
After an epic and well documented 45-year career that launched an era of rock’n roll, the legendary KISS will perform in the UK at Download Festival 2020, in a UK Exclusive. They embarked on their final ever tour earlier this year under the appropriately named END OF THE ROAD, and known for their trademark larger-than-life blistering performances, KISS have proven for decades why they are hands down the most iconic live show in rock’n roll, and one of the best headliners Donington has ever seen. With more than 100 million albums sold worldwide, it won’t just be KISS Army fans who will be blown away with their final Download performance next year.
“I’ve said it before, Download Festival audiences are the best. They are up for whatever is thrown at them. KISS is going to come fully prepared to rock their world in 2020 to say Thank You for always showing up for us.” - Gene Simmons, KISS
“Download will be the culmination of 47 years of unapologetic bombast and spectacle. We will make this a fitting farewell to a country and its people whose music remains the blood in our veins.” - Paul Stanley, KISS
Also headlining Download Festival 2020 will be SYSTEM OF A DOWN in a UK Exclusive. With just 5 studio albums, the Californian/Armenian band have earned themselves a worldwide following, never failing to put on a mind-blowing performance.
Shavo Odadjian, System of A Down said: “From our appearances to many of my favorite bands’, Castle Donington has always had a special place in my heart. We’re proud and excited to continue its legacy.”
Since Deftones’ inception, the multi-platinum, Grammy-Winning alternative rock band from Sacramento have released seven albums and sold over 10 million albums worldwide which include fan-favourite tracks ‘My Own Summer (Shove It)’, ‘Change (House Of Flies)’, and ‘Swerve City’.
Drummer Abe Cunningham said: “Download has been a big part of our history. The fans and organisers have always shown us so much love and support, so when the opportunity to play arises, we answer the call!”
With the release of their 13th studio album, THE NOTHING last week, Korn will be joining the Download 2020 line up. The two-time Grammy Award winning band have toured the world countless times and have continued to push the limits of the rock, alternative and metal genres, while remaining a pillar of influence for legions of fans and generations of artists around the globe.
Korn guitarist, James ‘Munky’ Shaffer: “I’m extremely anxious and enthusiastic at the same time, but I’m looking forward to getting back out there and returning to Download!”
Punk rioters The Offspring are heading to Download Festival bringing with them punk rock anthems that include ‘Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)’, ‘You’re Gonna Go Far Kid’, ‘Self Esteem’, and dozens more.
Also joining the line up are Gojira, the French metallers who have become famous for their sonically dense sounds and bludgeoning heavy rhythms. The hard-hitting, multi-platinum-selling Disturbed are returning to Donington with their aggressive blend of hard rock, alternative, and nu-metal. The band exploded onto the scene in 2000 with ‘Down With The Sickness’, and last year released their seventh album Evolution which reached the top 10 around the globe.
Hollywood hard rock act Black Veil Brides will make their anticipated UK return. Renowned for their explosive live shows and tenacious fans, the five-piece have worked tirelessly to create a scene of their own. Last year saw the release of their fifth studio album Vale, which landed at #1 on the US Top Hard Rock Billboard Chart.
Grammy nominated US alternative rock band Daughtry also join the line-up, following the success of last year’s album Cage To Rattle. Fronted by American Idol finalist Chris Daughtry, the band has sold over 8 million albums and 16 million singles, alongside selling out tours globally.
With a new album looming this Friday, Of Mice & Men have been dominating stages for over a decade and have had a disciple like following every step of the way that will undoubtedly follow them to Donington next year. Everyone’s favourite pirates, Alestorm are jumping ship to the hallowed grounds of Download Festival once again, bringing with them their pirate metal and perhaps their giant inflatable duck.
Download Festival’s Andy Copping said:
“Downloaders, your 2020 headliners are here! Rock ‘n’ roll legends KISS and System of A Down will both be headlining as UK Festival exclusives and after 4 years away from Donington, Iron Maiden will return bringing with them mascot Eddie and more fire than we can handle, I’m counting down the days already!”
Download Festival is the home of rock music and takes place on the sacred grounds of Donington Park, which have been associated with rock since the eighties. The festival attracts icons of rock and metal to its main stage, plus some of the best and hottest new acts in the world.

Lucky for some, BLOODSTOCK springs into March with news of seven more bands joining this summer’s best metal weekender and a massive thirteen more coach pick-up locations, making it easier than ever to get you, your mates, and all your camping gear to BLOODSTOCK for a very fine metallic time this August.
Belgian death metal kings ABORTED stride onto the Ronnie James Dio main stage on Sunday. The band tell us, “BLOODSTOCK! It’s been a while! We couldn’t be more thrilled to lay waste to thee in the most offensive of manners this coming summer. Prepare my friends, the blastbeat is coming!” Their current album ‘TerrorVision’ is blazing holes in our speakers over at BOA HQ. See what we mean via the video for ‘Deep Red’, a track taken from that record here - https://youtu.be/ak4oeZwBfJs.
Cali death metallers, SKELETAL REMAINS join Saturday’s fray on the Sophie Lancaster stage. The band released their third album ‘Devouring Mortality’ last April via Dark Descent/Century Media, and returned to the road for extensive touring, which now includes a run of US dates with Hatebreed and Mexican headline shows this spring. Watch the video for that album’s earthquake-inspired first single ‘Seismic Abyss’, at https://youtu.be/jss2oSGJ604.
Aussie rockers THE LAZYS crash into a Sunday spot on the Sophie stage. If you love a bit of AC/DC-style classic rock n’ roll, these boys are definitely worth a watch and are sure to bring the party! The band’s current album, ‘Tropical Hazards’ came out last year, so crack a cold one and check out the video for their infectious tune ‘Nothing But Trouble’ - https://youtu.be/K7ngGOlna0A.
3 HEADED SNAKE join the Sophie stage bill on Saturday. The LA-based classic metal band was put together by current Ministry guitarist Sin Quirin and features the soaring vocals of Johnny Ray. See their video for ‘Wisdom Screams’ at https://youtu.be/VsHERp-0LTg and if you like what you hear, go pick up the five piece’s eponymous 3-track debut EP from iTunes or Bandcamp.
BOSS KELOID land a Sunday slot on the Sophie stage. With current album, ‘Melted On The Inch’ being released last year on Holy Roar Records to vast critical acclaim (Prog Magazine called it “an extraordinary piece of work”), we’re excited to welcome the prog metallers back to Catton Park. SLAM DUNK FESTIVAL 2019 UNVEILS STAGE SPLITS
Written by Steven HarrisonWith a lineup bursting with the very best names in alternative music, Slam Dunk Festival is thrilled to reveal stage splits for the May bank holiday weekender, which is set to touch down in Leeds Temple Newsam Park for the very first time and return to Hatfield Park after the success of last year’s greenfield event. In addition to this, Slam Dunk Festival have also revealed travel information and further afterparty details.
In another Slam Dunk first, it has been announced that some stages will alternate their programming, becoming clash-proof. This year, neither the Jagermeister Stage or Impericon stage will clash, making sure fans of hardcore and metalcore will be able to catch both stage lineups throughout the day. In addition, The Dickies Stage and The Marshall Stage will not clash with each other either.
In what promises to be an unforgettable festival moment, this year’s Slam Dunk headliners All Time Low are set to round off the Monster stage with a homage to their 2nd album ‘Nothing Personal’ after a non-stop day of pop-punk mastery. Florida’s finest New Found Glory will appear alongside Welsh set-up Neck Deep for a back-to-back supply of alternative bangers. Montreal’s iconic rock pack Simple Plan are set to join them, alongside ‘Stupid For You’ hitmakers Waterparks, US-Brit rockers As It Is and crowd-pleasing front-runners Boston Manor and WSTR.
Carefully curated by NOFX’s very own Fat Mike, Slam Dunk’s very first Punk In Drublic stage takeover will see NOFX headline, following defiant performances from more beloved punk names. The iconic Bad Religion, ska-punk six piece Less Than Jake, original punk-rockers Lagwagon and Sweden’s hottest exports Millencolin are set to storm the takeover. Guaranteed to be the ultimate destination for punk rock, it will also see LA ska-punks The Interrupters, Mad Caddies, Anti-Flag and The Bombpops appear on the stage.
One of two heavy stages at this year’s Slam Dunk Festival, metalcore and everything in between can be found on the Jagermeister Stage as UK metal titans Bullet For My Valentine will appear in a powerful headline performance set to incite mosh-madness. Atreyu are set to show both acts and audiences alike how it’s done, bringing their influential metalcore hybrid to the stage, alongside emo icons Silverstein who are set to release their latest studio album ‘Redux: The First Ten Year’ in April. The Word Alive will deliver their notoriously exhilarating performance while Missouri rockers Story Of The Year, Wage War and The Plot In You are destined to get adrenaline levels sky-high.
A Slam Dunk Festival institution, the Impericon Stage will continue its legacy of bringing the world’s best heavy-hitters to Leeds and Hatfield over the May Bank Holiday weekend. The genre-defying New York act Glassjaw will make their Slam Dunk Festival debut in a highly-anticipated headline performance. Bolstering their way onto the notorious stage, UK mob Gallows will bring a cutthroat set alongside American powerhouses The Bronx and Canadian hardcore punk rockers Cancer Bats. Ensuring mayhem from the very beginning, hardcore supergroup Angel Du$t, ‘Time And Space’ noisemakers Turnstile and Pure Noise Records heros Knocked Loose make for an impeccable hardcore billing.
Headlined by The Menzingers, the Dickies Stage will see emotion-driven LA natives Touche Amore, US revival pack Tiny Moving Parts, and American stalwarts The Get Up Kids and Saves The Day take to the stage for a complete education in all things emo. Completing the stage and making for an indisputable display of alternative music will be esteemed two piece Tigers Jaw and none other than Brit punks Milk Teeth.
Appearing this May for a debut Slam Dunk Festival performance, Plain White T’s are set to headline the Marshall Stage. Before hearing the band’s pop-rock classics, festival goers can recognise the Marshall Stage as a home for heartfelt sing-a-longs delivered by evolving indie-rockers Hellogoodbye, cherished Illinois natives Real Friends, Seaway and Trophy Eyes. The stage will also see A Loss For Words’ UK reunion on the 10 year anniversary of their undeniable album ‘The Kids Can’t Lose’.
Paying homage to the beloved Leeds institution, The Key Club Stage will recreate venue magic on their stage at Leeds and Hatfield with incredible alternative names jam packed on to the lineup. Topping the bill will be enigmatic electro-rock duo iDKHOW in a Slam Dunk Festival debut performance that is sure to make history. Joining them will be alt-pop sensation Lights, billboard-charting grandson and the face-melting Employed To Serve. Birmingham metallers SHVPES will meet Aussie Between You & Me ahead of Story Untold 's pop-punk performance. Press To Meco, Our Hollow Our home, Kublai Khan, Cruel Hand, Pagan and Wallflower will complete the genre-crossing showcase, with secret special guests still to be announced.
One for the acoustic aficionados, the Acoustic Stage will be the go-to destination for slower sing-a-longs with beloved Slam Dunk Festival names. Justin Courtney Pierre of Motion City Soundtrack will lead the lineup which also features singer-songwriter Rob Lynch and former We Are The Ocean singer Liam Cromby as well as Lightyear’s Chas Palmer Williams and Lizzy Farrall.

As well as these exciting new additions, Slam Dunk Festival have also announced the programming of the legendary Acoustic Stage for the May Bank Holiday.
Fresh from storming across the UK’s monumental arenas with Don Broco, Neck Deep stand as one of the biggest British pop-punk bands of the 21st century. Their unapologetic twist on such a celebrated and classic sound has cemented their place as prominent movers and shakers of the scene. The Hopeless Records’ act kicked off their global tour of The Peace and The Panic at Slam Dunk Festival back in 2017 and they are returning full circle in 2019 to close the tour before they go away to start on their new album.
Starting from internet message boards between Brighton and Minnesota, pop-punk As It Is are set to return to Slam Dunk Festival this year. After the huge success of Slam Dunk’s move to Hatfield House last year, Slam Dunk North will move to Leeds’ Temple Newsam Estate so even more pop-punk fanatics can make their way to the definitive date of the alternative diary. Reaching across two stunning greenfield sites in Leeds and Hatfield on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May 2019 - Slam Dunk 2019 is the next evolution for that go-to destination of rock.
